New York, NY - (November 6, 2012) - The legendary flamenco singer Diego "El Cigala" was supposed to come and provide a dosage of warmth to the cold, sad and stricken streets of New York City with his passionate style and charisma on Saturday November 3rd. However, the power of the Sandy mega storm caused the concert to be postponed until Tuesday November 13th at The Townhall Theatre in the Times Square area.

The concert of the famous Spanish artist is part of Latin American Cultural Week 2012, a festival that celebrates the variety and richness of Latino culture in New York City. "El Cigala" (Spanish for Norway lobster) is making a world tour promoting his latest album “Cigala Tango." The 43-years old artist will arrive to the Big Apple following his his concert in Miami scheduled for November 10. Later he will head to Costa Rica and Panama.

"As official sponsors of Latin American Week 2012, we are pleased that the concert of Diego 'El Cigala' was not canceled, only postponed," said Maritza Peña, news anchor and reporter for BuenaVision TV, the new Spanish language channel serving New York’s metropolitan area.
"Diego is a world renowned artist and his presence graces this great festival and will help to lift the spirits of a city that is currently very somber," added news reporter Maritza Peña. "BuenaVision TV is proud to lend our support to Latin American Week 2012, a festival that takes place from 9 to 19 November here in the Big Apple."

The concert series Diego "El Cigala" is entitled “Sintiendo América” (Feeling America). Diego says that is his way to seeing this continent. "How I feel, with tangos, boleros, with that broad musical culture that distinguishes America, and of course, my flamenco," he said to the media.

Among his greatest hits include
“El día que me quieras”, “Lágrimas negras”, “Niebla del riachuelo”,  “Se me olvidó que te olvidé”,  “La cuarenta”, “Dos gardenias”,  and “Historia de un amor”
.

The year of 2004 was historic for "El Cigala,” the year he won a  Grammy for his album “Lagrimas Negras,” which brought him together with Bebo Valdés at the piano. The New York Times praised it as "Best Album of the Year" in the Latin music category.

"Neither super storm Sandy, nor anything else stops Diego" El Cigala" because as he frequently says to the press: "lobsters that sleep are swallowed away by currents."
